FRIENDS,
Every year I record a song with my musician buddies to help raise awareness for a homeless outreach program in my community. This is the kind of work that brings me the most joy. Community outreach work. If you enjoy the tune, consider dropping a tip into the SAFPAW cup at https://www.safpaw.org/take-action
The Southern Alliance For People & Animal Welfare takes care of the unhoused and their pets. Community support work is something I hope all of us can get into now that our marginalized communities are going to face even tougher times ahead. Thanks for standing up for those who need standing up for.
Below is the press release that is coming out on Friday.
Take care,
Tim E.
TIM EASTON'S 2024 SAFPAW BENEFIT SONG/VIDEO
Each year for the last ten years, Nashville based troubadour Tim Easton has gathered friends to volunteer their talent and record a song and video in order to raise awareness for The Southern Alliance For People & Animal Welfare. SAFPAW.ORG is a non-profit organization based in Madison that helps the local homeless community face the daily challenges of living in poverty with their pets. SAFPAW also serves as an active homeless outreach organization and runs a small transitional post-recovery house for women.
“We do this to shine a light on our hard working community members who do the very difficult work of day to day outreach with the unhoused,” Easton says. “We used to record a Bob Dylan song but I write enough songs to get this job done. Now we do not have to ask permission from any publishing company. All of the musicians and engineers work for free to help get this work accomplished. There is no record company or publicist on the payroll here. This is community based. Thanks for considering your donation to SAFPAW.ORG, which you can find easily with a few clicks on the keyboard.”

This year’s SAFPAW benefit song, produced by Brad Jones, was made the day after Americanafest wrapped up with three members of Country superstar Lainey Wilson’s band (the Kevin Nolan, Matt Nolan, and Tommy Scifres) and visiting California singer-songwriter Rosa Pullman plus first time Nashville visitor and violinist Jayne Pomplas, from Dublin, Ireland. All of the musicians and engineer donated their time to create this project.

"AINT THAT A RIVER" words & music by T. Easton/ASCAP/Campfire Propaganda
Ain’t That A River
What canNR run but never walks
Dehas a big mouth but never talks
has a head but never weeps
makes a big bed but never sleeps
ain’t that a river
AIWhat takes you on a dance
then leaves you in a trance
What spins you on a weave
that you may never leave
ain’t that a river
What starts at the mountaintop
with just a little drop of rain
and goes all the way to the sea
and never once is the same
ain’t that a river
What flows out of a dream
and sweeps you far downstream
What gives and also takes away
so that all of us can find our way
what brings us what we need
then brings us to our knees
ain’t that a river
